"Bringing Biggar to the World"
The Biggar Museum & Gallery seeks to preserve and present the history and culture of Biggar and area through the development and delivery of programs in an educational and entertaining manner to people of all ages.
The Biggar Museum & Gallery has been preserving, presenting and protecting the history of Biggar & the Rural Municipality of Biggar since 1972. Originally in the basement of the town's library, and in 1997 in the purpose built building we are in at 105-3rd Avenue West here in beautiful Downtown Biggar.
The Canadian Museums Association defines a museum as "a not-for-profit, permanent institution in the service of society that researches, collects, conserves, interprets and exhibits tangible and intangible heritage. Open to the public, accessible and inclusive, museums foster diversity and sustainability. They operate and communicate ethically, professionally and with the participation of communities, offering varied experiences for education, enjoyment, reflection and knowledge sharing.”
